Learning to discuss in groups

What we propose as an alternative to teacher intervention when a class / group discussions go wrong?

1) All students have 1-3 leaves that have seen little by little in class (to avoid "embarrassment functional")

2) are organized groups of 4 to 6 students.

3) In each group, cut the sheet with the statement "language functions" and assigned two or three to each group member.

4) sheet is trimmed to the topics of debate ( add to the proposed subjects drawn from the present and suggested by the students according to their interests). Placed in a pile face down.

5) It takes a card from the deck of "themes" and read aloud and announced that they will talk.

6) Students discuss freely and have to exercise the functions specified in the chips and when they do, they put her back on the table in view of all.

7) When all students have exercised their functions, change of theme and tokens.

8) Students can also decide which functions are to exercise, before determining which costs them more to do: for example, for someone shy, start a round of talks etc. .
